the latest toy

So, we bought a digital camera, a Minolta DIMAGE Z1, to be precise. We went walking on the sea shore yesterday afternoon, and I practiced taking photos of various things, alas, I deleted all of them accidentally when we got home. “Delete all frames” does not mean “delete all frames in this movie”, but rather delete all pictures from the flash. Oh well.

So the camera works, and quite well. It’s lots of fun, too. The next step is offloading pictures off of it to hydra, the faithful Linux laptop, and that is what I’ll do right now.

I admitted it within 5 minutes of starting to take pictuers on the sea shore. You rule, lady(pine), and not just because I love you so!

  3. There are ways to restore deleted images
The format of these flash cards is usually a FAT16/FAT32. There are quite a few Windows programs which can restore deleted images on the cards (you better keep one or two like these around for such cases, they are a life savers). I suspect that a linux-based undelete for FAT32 would also be possible.
Can’t find a pointer for such a program right now. Maybe a dig through dpreview would help.

hmpf, didn’t think of that. A FAT undeleter should certainly work, if I ever delete something really important. Thanks!
