I’m baaaaack

Had a grueling week, first preparing and then teaching the classes on
operating systems and C programming. I’m baaaack now.

Some eclectic catching up:

  • Shachar Shemesh, proprietor
of Lingnu, has a blog now! It’s in Hebrew,
    though.

  • I snarfed Dan Simmons’s Illium
in paperback. I wonder what I’ve gotten myself into.

  • HTML-TEMPLATE is
a lisp library for generating HTML easily. Looks useful for my latest
(and as of now, vaporware) project.

  • I have ~180 unread emails in my work inbox. All of them need to be
read, and some need to be responded to. I do not look forward
    to dealing with them.

  • My diet has taken a turn for the worse (to put it mildly) this
week. I’m back on the horse now, though!

  • Things are not looking good in
    SCO land
. Reminds me of a certain quip about revenge being a dish best
    eaten cold…

  • Interesting
    thread
on brad‘s journal with regards to being
robust in the face of random things assuming fd 0 is stdin, 1 is
stdout, and 2 stderr and writing to them.

There were other things I wanted to write about, but I can’t remember
what. Oh well, till we meet again!

  2. That’s a Klingon proverb by the way.
BayStar wants their 20 million back and/or an order from the court freezing the money so SCO can’t spend it in the meantime. And it seems to follow that the Canadian Bank who also invested want their 30 million back as well.
Some of their reasons include the unlikely possibility of SCO winning the IBM suit and the actions of the SCO executives (open letters to the Linux community, press statements, and interviews).
I seriously doubt poor Linus is getting any work done. I mean, how can you type when you keep laughing hysterically ?
    🙂

  3. welcome back!
did you put up your notes for the classes somewhere?
Another Hebrew blog … Are you planning a hebrew-english translator someday ? 😦

    • thanks 🙂
The notes I used, which aren’t actually mine, are temporarily available at http://www.mulix.org/misc/a.tgz. Some are in Hebrew, some in English.
re Hebrew – not much I can do about it. I generally try to summarize in English should I link anywhere that’s not in English in the future.

      • Thanks for the notes … looks great
I’ll scan it through tonight and over the weekend.
Dont worry abt the hebrew part. If I miss a few more great lectures,
I’ll start learning it on my own 🙂

      • This is what happens when we have a hebrew-speaking friend 🙂 I am sure I will get similar requests if I write my homepage in Chinese 🙂
